The ad sends the message that it is not okay to be over weight. It also implies that bad eating habits and a stationary life style. At the same time it may be implying that people should be thin. These and other ads can have a strong affect on young minds. While obesity is a growing problem that we must deal with it is the other extreme we also have to avoid. Children are being told that thin is better, so while others are over eating fast food the rest are starving themselves. What we need to do is start aiming children towards health weight levels and tries to take away the pressure to be any certain body type. Children should be encouraged to develop naturally.

Awesome response...and I agree we do need to let these kids develop naturally instead of implying any certain body type that they should be it completly throws their thoughts around and confuses them...they should also have parents that pay more attention and feed their kids right rather then let them choose what to eat especially at such a young age....they are still kids..great response!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. The focus should be on eating right, active lives, etc. I see children in my daughter's classes (4th and 5th grades) who are falling into the sort of body awareness that these ads foster. It's very sad. It is usually because the parents have the same attitudes, and whether they "push" the attitudes of the children or not, the children emulate their parents.
ReplyDeleteI do strongly agree with you. People should not go to the extreme of the balance for everything. Especially the young children should grow up in a nature way. There are too much information about things impact to the little head of the young children; and not all of the information are good for the development of the young kids. The society in today is a good example for the vary information from the media. People become to judge things strongly and with meaningless for different news appeared everyday. Good things will be excellent, and bad things will be evil. The balance became no longer balanced. Adults can lose in it, and I don’t think the young kids can find the way to come out.
